In 2008, for the first time in team history, the Western Show Team earned the title of Regional Champions. Every year since then, the UCET team or its participating members have received Regional, Semi, Zone and National Awards. In May 2012, Missy Jo was awarded University of Cincinnati Coach of the Year and was a finalist in 2016 for the award.
The equine industry is one of Kentucky’s top cash crops. Since 30% of the state’s economic activity is agriculturally related, this employs somewhere between 80,000 and 100,000 people directly and indirectly. There are over 128,000 participants in Kentucky horse farming, racing and other equine-related businesses. Saddle Lake Equestrian Center contributes to these numbers with over 80 horses between our locations, Saddle Lake Equestrian Center, Saddle Lake Loveland and Smith Genetics Farm.
